KARAAGE: Deep-Fried Chicken

Ingredients(serves one)

  • 150g chicken, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sake
  • 1/2 teaspoon grated garlic
  • 1/2 teaspoon grated ginger
  • Oil for deep-frying


  1. Mix the soy sauce, sake, grated garlic and ginger in a bowl.
  2. Add the chicken pieces to the bowl and place the bowl in a refrigerator for 30 minutes.
  3. Add the potato starch to the bowl and mix well.
  4. Deep-fry the chicken pieces at 170°C.
  5. Remove the pieces from the oil and drain well. Place the karaage on a plate.
